Kansas City Royals' Zack Greinke wins American League Cy Young Award - ESPN
Glad to see the most deserving guy win, even if he wasn't on a great team... you can only imagine how much he'll make if he keeps this up

Dude was flat out dominant this year. He kind of came out of nowhere when you look at it. He was supposed to be this good a long time ago. Gives credence to the feeling that comes with a pitcher that should be good, but just hasn't quite got there yet. Hopefully this is only the beginning of many pitchers following suit.
Congrats to Grienke!
Then it's a good thing that the Royals already have him locked for the next three years at $34 million. He came out of nowhere in part because of his career low homeruns allowed total, but big deal if it's an unsustainable figure. He should be in next year's Cy Young race as well alongside Felix, Halladay, CC, and Verlander.
Sweet Tee my man! You buy that one?
Good for him.
I like the call.
The obvious selection. I'm glad.
He definitely deserved it.

Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.
No question about it. He dominated the league. It's definitely a good story to the the guys who have not yet lived up to their potential. With hard work, they can still get there.
That's such a cute T-shirt.
LOVE THEE NOTRE DAME!
I am really pretty shocked that he won it, in a good way. Given CC's win total and the fact that his TEAM and him were crowned champs, I was afraid we would see Greinke go home empty handed. Greinke definitely deserved it and we were all lucky enough to see his season, including a start to the season that probably is at the tops for some of us of best starts to a season.

I thought the writers placed their ballots in before the postseason, so the Yankees' championship could not have factored into the voting, or maybe they just knew the Yankees would get the job done.
I wouldn't say he came out of nowhere considering how well he did last year. Definitely the right guy for this award and like mofo said, he should be in the CY talks for a few more years. Glad to see writers not taking into account the team he played for or win total. If the writers were like Skip Bayless, guys like Greinke would never receive a vote.
Well it's not just Skip Sayless, Michael Wilbon and Rick Reilly didn't think Lincecum should have been Cy Young last season. Everyone's all about the freakin' win total. Damn it, when will people wake up and realize guys like Lincecum and Greinke would be 20 game winners if they had the kind of support the CC's of the world get?
Marshall: MILSWANCAs?
Ted: Wait, I can get this. Mothers I'd like to sleep with and never call again.
Barney: Circle gets the square!

Thats exactly why we have to say they got it right this time. It wasn't about win total. 16 wins usually doesn't get it done. But when you are pitching for a team that isn't quite there yet offensively, you simply won't have the eye popping win total.
Greinke would definitely win a ton more games if pitching for the Yankees. Thank God they considered that this year. As far as CC goes. He almost duplicated his Cy Young season from 2007. It was a close race this year, but I do like how the voters found a winner in someone without the highest win total.
It's always nice when these awards go to the most deserving candidate.

Grienke would have won more games in Seattle. The only guy that would have been an acceptable choice would have been Felix in the AL. Not Verlander (Skip's choice, they didnt do too much better than Seattle asshole), not CC and not Halladay.
