Chipper and McCann are on board.
Mark DeRosa and David Wright have reportedly accepted offers to play for Team USA.
Big time pickup for the Americans!Roy Oswalt will pitch for the United States during the World Baseball Classic in March.
"If I only play three more years, this would be a good opportunity," Oswalt said Monday. "I thought it’d be a great time to do it and try to win a gold medal." He won a gold with Team USA at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and called it "one of the most special times" he has ever had in baseball.
Brina Fuentes, Curtis Granderson and Matt Lindstrom have agreed to play for Team USA.
Scott Kazmir was named to the team today. Hopefully, Joe Maddon won;t let him do it. His arm is a big question for the '09 season.
USA only needs Chipper. They don't need Wright.
"For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home."
