Belly Up: To DH or Not to DH?

Alright, for once and for all. Should the DH stay or go? Expand or eliminate?

Keep it in the AL. Fans should have a choice on what they like. They can either like the fat, out of shape DH or the hitless wonders called pitchers. Seeing a pitcher come through is awesome to watch. So is seeing some of these DH's plays the field.

I'm not against seeing certain pitchers be the DH. Willis, Owings, Hernandez would all do fine
    Marshall: MILSWANCAs?

You don't really have much of a choice in the matter due to the fact that you don't get to choose which league your team plays in.

That is, unless your preference to the DH or no DH is more important than the team you root for, anyways.

the DH takes half the strategizing out of the game.

I say get rid of it. It is just something that was meant to attract more fans, but at this point, I believe that most fans will still show up if scoring per game drops from 5 runs to 4 or so.

I was talking about kids and new fans to the game. They can choose which type of baseball they like. If you are born or live in NY, you can choose the AL or NL. People like you and me who already have teams don't really have the choice since we already made up our minds.

I have grew up watching the DH games with the Redsox, but when I watch a National League game on the T.V. I really like the strategy the managers have to do when the pitchers are scheduled to come up. I am torn to what to do, so I say leave it the same.

That really only applies to kids who live in New York, LA, Chicago, Maryland, the bay area, or various places that don't have baseball teams, though.

A kid born in San Diego, Atlanta, or Kansas City for instance are going to most likely be fans of the home teams regardless of DH preference.

Also, a kid is most likely going to root for the team his parents root for, also regardless of his DH preference.

The "choice" really only relates to those who are still undecided on a team to root for and are trying to decide between all 30, or kids in those areas trying to decide between the Mets or the Yankees. (for example)

A choice nonetheless. I grew up in Cardinal nation but I'm a Giants fan. I prefer the NL to the AL. Everyone has choices and that's what I mean.

Re: Belly Up: To DH or Not to DH?

Of course everyone has choices, but there's a plethora of other factors that go into the decision of who is going to be your favorite team that overshaddow whether or not you prefer the DH, and that is my point.

i like watching my pitchers bat. when you have zambrano and marquis, and even dempster and lilly swinging the bat, theres nothing wrong with that.

Pitchers hitting makes me sick. When a guy hits .250 everyone goes insane.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

An MLB manager not having to think during a 1-0 game in the 7th inning makes me sick.
