ESPN - Superseding indictment adds perjury counts to Bonds - MLB

A "Superseding Indictment" has levied 10 more charges against Barry Bonds. In addition to the 3 charges of perjury and 1 charge of obstruction brought against him in November, Bonds will face 10 additional charges of perjury. This could hurt his case in the MLB investigation as to whether there was collusion against him.

I'm not quite sure why you put quotes around the government, but I'm sure they have evidence. The reason they waited is because they won't indict someone unless they're near positive they can prove it. They don't indict as soon as they think they have enough, they make sure of it so that they don't look stupid

Well, to be fair, it's a different situation. I agree that Bush and his advisers are not the brightest, but this is with Congress who actually sometimes know what they're doing

It it was Congress who voted to go to war, it wasn't just that Bush wanted to go to war, we went to war, Congress has as much to do with this as Bush does, the same Congress who loves calling out baseball for the "steroid problem" when the US is facing bigger problems than this.

Congress voted for the "War on Terrorism"

However, the "Iraq War" is technically "Operation Iraqi Freedom", and the President don't need Congress' aproval for an Operation.

And these are two totally different things. The whole Iraq situation had to do with sattelite photo images that couldn't completly prove anything. There was no getting to anyone with information.

In the Bonds issue, it's a bit easier to gather evedince. They can subpeona (sp?) people, hand out warrants to search houses and other places. They couldn't do that with Iraq.

If the government is so concerned about Bonds allegedly lying to them, then why arent they filing these "charges" against Bush for lying to the American public? For being the reason for losing all these innocent lives of soldiers who are protecting our country? What about all those politicians who lie to the general public during the elections? I have yet to seen a single candidate to get charged to "lying." Where is the government at when Sen Ted Kennedy has millions in his Swiss bank account and he isn't getting charged a penny on taxes. Where is the government when it comes to underage kids drinking? There are bigger issues to worry about then this

Congress's mentality is, lets go after Bonds because everyone hates him, he's an easy target, but lets not go after others.

Because perjury is lying under testimony...Bush and the other politicians you name were not sworn to technically tell the truth. Plus, they can't prove the other things as lies, since most politicians base everything on opinion

So apparently Bonds' lawyers asked for the the initial charges to be reconsidered because the charges were "too complicated", so the prosecutors took the charges back and redid it so every apparent "lie" was a separate charge. The streets have been sooo crowded recently in lieu of all this. It's crazy.
