I am just saying no one really talks about him or hardly mentions this guy. He is in the shadows of the Jones'. Is Francoeur rated now? I think not and he has 24 homers.

If no one talks about him or "hardly mentions" him and he has 26 homeruns, therefore he is underrated. That's the whole definition of "underrated".Originally Posted by love_that_reefer
I guess I just find him to be right on the edge as in average.
LaRoche: 4-for-4 tonight with 3 RBI, 3 doubles, 1 triple and a win ... against your Giants. Ouch.
I agree 100%. Bigger markets mean more recognition for the players in that market. Who would have heard of Robinson Cano or David Wright if they were playing on the Royals and Devil Rays instead of Yankees and Mets? Nobody.Originally Posted by realmofotalk
I don't know many underrated players because I live in NY, but one would be this guy Matt Holiday on Colorado, batting .328 with 24 hrs and 78 rbi's...today was the first time I had ever heard his name. Two more would be Endy Chavez for the mets and Melky Cabrera for the yankees, both of whom are backup outfielders fighting for playing time who play great defense, are fast, and have hit for high averages (.285 for Cabrera, .300 for Chavez). Both have filled in great for injured outfielders.
Basically, an underrated player is anybody who greatly helps their team but wouldn't be known to anybody outside of their home town.

WTF? Eric Byrnes has 25 HR and 25 SB this year?
You wanted a true underrrated player? Someone whom no one with the exception of one baseball guy in Kansas City gave any respect to before the start of this season?
