    Forecast 2008 Season Predictions!

We're in March now, I'm giving myself the go ahead. Plus it's always fun to look back and see who did the best (and worst) at the end of the season.

    AL East
    1. Yankees - In Girardi We Trust!
    2. Red Sox (Wild Card) - Look for a huge season out of Manny.
    3. Blue Jays - I hear they're going to challenge for the division every year...still waiting for it to happen.
    4. DEVIL Rays - Could finish 3rd. No, I'm serious.
    5. Orioles - Worst team in baseball?

    AL Central
    1. Indians - Sabathia and Carmona as the best 1-2 in baseball?...last year was no fluke.
    2. Tigers - Their biggest concern was their pitching...how much can Dontrelle realistically help?
    3. Twins - Delmon Young is a future stud.
    4. Royals - OUT OF THE CELLAR!!!!!!!!!!
    5. White Sox - Wow, trading a few good prospects for Nick Swisher will really help.

    AL West
    1. Angels - Torii Hunter wasn't a good signing in the long run, but he'll help this year.
    2. Mariners - Bedard or not, they were a fluke last year, and Richie Sexson is still there.
    3. Athletics - The "How long will Rich Harden be Healthy?" Watch Part 4 takes effect.
    4. Rangers - Look at their starting rotation and try not to puke.

    ALDS
    Yankees over Indians in 5
Angels over Red Sox in 4
    ALCS
    Angels over Yankees in 7

    NL East
    1. Mets - Despite the loss of Shawn Green aka "The Messiah."
    2. Braves - Glavine reunited with Smoltz...now trade Yunel Escobar for Maddux.
    3. Phillies - Ryan Howard in 2008 vs Johan - 2-17, 2 HRs, 4 BBs, 14 Ks
    4. Nationals - Elijah Dukes: More children or HRs this year?
    5. Marlins - I wish Hanley Ramirez played on a good team...I really do.

    NL Central
    1. Reds - SLEEPER! Love the Cordero signing for now...maybe not in 4 years, but I have to go out on a limb somewhere. 7/10 of S3F rejoices.
    2. Cubs - Is it just me, or is Aramis Ramirez vastly underrated?
    3. Brewers - Hopefully Ryan Braun finds out the meaning of defense in the outfield.
    4. Cardinals - Mark Mulder...eek.
    5. Pirates - Neal Huntington (new GM) is a smart man. You all wait and see.
    6. Astros - Tejada, Valverde...it doesn't matter, their rotation is horrific.

    NL West
    1. Dodgers - Last 4 years, they've made the playoffs every other season, and now they have THE MASTER JOSEPH PAUL TORRE!
    2. Diamondbacks (WC) - Webb and Haren...look out world
    3. Padres - This year, their season will be derailed by Greg Vaughn, Jr.
    4. Rockies - I know they won it all, but look at this division...it got real good out of nowhere.
    5. Giants - ...except for these guys!

    NLDS
    Diamondbacks over Mets in 4
    Dodgers over Reds in 4
    NLCS
    Diamondbacks over Dodgers in 7

WORLD SERIES OF THE UNITED STATES AND ONE CANADIAN TEAM
    Angels defeat Diamondbacks in 6
    MVP: Chone Figgins

    AL MVP: Grady Sizemore
NL MVP: Mark Teixeira (almost picked David Wright, but that's too many Mets for me)
    AL Cy Young: John Lackey
    NL Cy Young: Johan Santana
AL Rookie of the Year: Evan Longoria
NL Rookie of the Year: Jay Bruce
AL "Rolaids Relief Man": Jon Papelbon
NL "Rolaids Relief Man": Francisco Cordero
    AL Breakthrough Hitter: Delmon Young
    NL Breakthrough Hitter: James Loney
    AL Breakthrough Pitcher: Phil Hughes
NL Breakthrough Pitcher: Homer Bailey (wow, I just picked 3 Reds for stuff) EDIT: Yovani Gallardo!
    AL Comeback Player: Vernon Wells
    NL Comeback Player: Andruw Jones
    AL Manager: Joe Girardi
NL Manager: Dusty Baker (until he blows it in the playoffs and kills Homer Bailey's arm ) [and only because they give this award to the manager of teams that improve their win total a lot]
First Manager Fired: John Gibbons (Toronto)
First GM Fired: Kenny Williams (White Sox)

There they are folks. Discuss, mock me, praise me, or write your own damn predictions!

    Re: 2008 Season Predictions!

You got the AL West right. The Angels will win the Division again however, the Mets will not win the NL East. If the Braves don't (they will) someone else will.

I think it's the Mets to lose. They have a better lineup and rotation than the Braves. I don't think either have a particularly great bullpen

Anyway Dry, I like that you're picking the Rays 3rd, I was damn close to doing it. Good predictions overall, but I just don't see the Phillies making the World Series, their pitching staff just doesn't cut it for me.

    Re: 2008 Season Predictions!

I will CRUSH YOU brownie. Here's what i got:

    AL East
    1. Red Sox - I can't believe I'm doing this. But even die-hard yankee fans like me have got to admit the hard truth: this team is NASTY.
    2. Yankees (Wild Card) - Joe II will do well in his first year. It's quite possible to have a 90-100 win wild card this year.
    3. DEVIL DEVIL DEVIL Rays - Are good this year, but they traded Young, dumb move considering the team needs young players to rebuild.
    4. Toronto Blue Jays - Have talent, but BJ Ryan is key and will be out a while.
    5. Orioles - Worst team in baseball? Nope. Rangers are worse. Close though.

    AL Central
    1. Indians - Sabathia and Carmona as the best 1-2 in baseball? I'm not sold on Carmona COMPLETELY yet, but I'm getting pretty damn close. This team is very good as well.
    2. Tigers - Dontrelle is underrated. That being said, they aren't making the playoffs. Cabrera will be a bust.
    3. Twins - Average team here. Great trade for Young, I agree. They got some good stuff for Johan, although in the immediate future they get worse because of it.
    4. White Sox - They made multiple stupid trades (like trading Jon Garland away. He's good)
    5. Royals - NOT OUT OF THE CELLAR!!!!!!!!!!

    AL West
    1. Angels - Lackey and Vlad are studs, and Kendrick is going to have a breakout year. A good all-around team.
    2. Mariners - Richie Sexson looks to carry the 0-14 end of the season into this season. Let's take bets on whether Bedard keeps up with Sexson's strikeouts. Mariners = not enough offense. End of story. Their front office clearly doesn't understand that, shown by the dealing of Adam Jones.
    3. Athletics - Daric Barton hit .429 in his brief stint at the end of last season. Look for him to be one of the few bright spot on this Swisher-less team.
    4. Rangers -
Look at their starting rotation and try not to puke.
    too late brownie.

    ALDS
Red Sox over Angels in 3
    Indians over Yankees in 5
    ALCS
Indians over Red Sox in 7

    NL East
    1. Mets - Johan, Pedro, Maine, Perez, El Duque. Not too shabby I would say. O yeah, and then there's Reyes and Wright too.
    2. Braves - Texieira proved he belongs in Atlanta. He will be nasty this year.
    3. Phillies - Ryan Howard record strikeouts + Rollins annual comment = Phillies mediocre.
    4. Nationals - Zimmerman and Millege are the only 2 people on this roster who are any fun to watch. And Lastings said he was going to tone it down. Change the channel!
    5. Marlins - The Marlins have Uggla, Hanley, Hermida, and nobody else.

    NL Central
    1. Reds - I agree with this pick. Just gotta make sure they don't fall off in the second half again.
    2. Cardinals - Here's my surprise pick. I think their rotation is underrated. We shall see what happens.
    3. Brewers - Braun + Fielder + Yovanni = Good, but not good enough. This is a good division I think.
    4. Cubs - Is it just me, or is Aramis Ramirez vastly OVERRATED?
    5. Astros - Tejada and Valverde picked the wrong team. However they do keep the 'Stros out of last place.
    6. Pirates - Jason Bay and Freddy Sanchez need to move to a good team. Ian Snell should be renamed to Ian Smells. I dislike him.

    NL West
    1. Diamondbacks - An extremely talented, young team. Webb and Haren are both elite pitchers and could be aces on just about any team. Randy Johnson is Randy Johnson, no matter how old he is. Eric Byrnes is WAY underrated. And they also got Justin Upton, Stephen Drew, Conor Jackson, and Chris Snyder. Here we come World Series.
    2. Rockies (Wild Card) - Definitely not going back to the World Series. But Holliday, Hawpe, and Tulowitzki bring this true team back to the playoffs.
    3. Dodgers - Torre brings doesn't make the playoffs. James Loney wins ROY...if he were eligible.
    4. Padres - Peavy = CY young. Padres = stuck in the best/most competative division in the MLB.
    5. Giants - Bonds was the only reason anyone cared about the Giants. REBUILDING TIME!!

    NLDS
Mets over the Rockies in 4
Diamondbacks over the Reds in 3
    NLCS
    Diamondbacks over Mets in 7.

    WORLD SERIES
    Indians defeat Diamondbacks in 6
    MVP: Grady Sizemore

    AL MVP: David Ortiz
NL MVP: Mark Teixeira. GREAT PICK BROWNIE. You read my mind.
    AL Cy Young: C.C. Sabathia
NL Cy Young: Jake Peavy/Dan Haren, I honestly can't make up my mind
AL Rookie of the Year: Jacoby Ellsbury
NL Rookie of the Year: Kosuke Fukudome
AL "Rolaids Relief Man": Jon Papelbon
NL "Rolaids Relief Man": Brandon Lyon
    AL Manager: Eric Wedge
    NL Manager: Willie Randolph
AL Comeback Player of the Year: Howie Kendrick

    Re: 2008 Season Predictions!

    AL East
    1. Red Sox- Defending champions got even better. Scary!
    2. Yankees- Just don't see it this year.
    3. Rays- Finally got pitching!
    4. Blue Jays- Right behind the Rays by a game or two
    5. Orioles- Rebuilding mode.

    AL Central
    1. Indians- Better pitching than the Tigers with a powerful offense behind it.
    2. Tigers(WC)-Too much offense plus decent overall pitching is good.
    3. Twins- Third best offense and a good bullpen
    4. Royals- New manager, new attitude, better offense
    5. White Sox- Not enough pitching

    AL West
    1. Angels- Best overall rotation with an improved offense
    2. Mariners- A couple of games out of the Wild Card
    3. Rangers- Will have a good offense
    4. Oakland- Rebuilding mode

    NL East
    1. Mets- Winners by a slight margin.
    2. Braves- Better rotation and offense
    3. Phillies- Not enough starting pitching but one heck of an offense
    4. Marlins- Did a lot of maturing and see them doing more.
    5. Nationals- Just missing fourth place

    NL Central
    1. Cubs- Best rotation in the division and offense is explosive
    2. Brewers- Great offense but rotation's unstable
    3. Astros- Enough offense to make up for lack of rotation. Valverde>Lidge.
