    Shawn Green

I was look at Shawn Green's numbers as I was thinking the Giants could use him at first base and noticed something very interesting. After the 2002 when Green hit 42 HRs, he never hit over 30 HRs since then. What happened in that time between 2002 and 2003? That's right, the Balco case. I know he battled through injuries over the years but he still averaged over 150 games played since 2002. Here's what his homeruns were after 2002.

    2002- 42 HRs
    2003- 19 HRs
    2004- 28 HRs
    2005- 22 HRs
    2006- 15 HRs
    2007- 10 HRs

Talk about a drastic drop off in homeruns. I am not saying Green was on anything but you do have to look at stats like these and wonder. He's not even 35 yet!! His drop off came in what would be other players primes which is the late 20's, early 30's. Just found it interesting.

Wow. I know that I would've totally missed that. Still think you want Green playing for the Giants after noticing something like that?

I wouldn't. He is on the downward side of his career.

    I'd rather have Tony Clark.

Green's shoulder really messed him up, but I can't ignore the numbers

A torn labrum was what happened between 2002 and 2003. The docs figured that it was damaged beyond repair, so they removed the cartilage instead.

And that ends that discussion. Thanks for the input bro!
