First to make this super exclusive list, known as the Mitchell Report, is.... wait for it, Roger Clemens. Now wait a minute, I've seen enough Sportscenter Segments with Clemens taking a young pitcher under his wing and for his daily workout routine, with typically the young pitcher being unable to handle it as he wasn't in as good of shape of a 40 year old man.... oh, ok. I get it now.

    Re: The List

This is going to be a very interesting day indeed. Apparently the dude who was a personal trainer for Roger Clemens and Andy Pettitte supplied Mitchell with information. Gotta love it.

I'm not surprised by any of those names. Except Rich Garces. I thought he was just fat.

    Re: The List

Mitchell faced a series of obstacles in compiling his report, not the least of which was the lack of cooperation from active players (only a compelled Jason Giambi and one other as-yet-unnamed player testified) and the perception that Mitchell is too close to commissioner Bud Selig.
Credit to Jason Giambi for realizing his past mistakes and cooperating in an effort to clean up his image and the game.

    Re: The List

I think it is now up to the players to "come clean" and admit their use of illegal substances, or provide Drs prescripitons for them. These substances have legitimate uses in certain situations and, possibly, some of the players had those conditions.
The next couple of months should be interesting.
By the way, one name that is conspicuous by being absent is Barry Bonds. I wonder if he will be named seperately or if he is, indeed, clean?

    Re: The List

I'll wait for an official list, but I am somewhat saddened that Tek is on there.

I can't say I'm overly surprised (honestly, the only one who would REALLY hurt would be David Ortiz if he's on a list), but still disappointed.

Something about the list is not ringing right to me though. I think most of it is right, but I could make a list like that: just tell me to name the most suspected, a couple big stars, several retired oddballs, some washed out players, and you have it.

Mark Prior is actually perplexing to me. I'd bet something it was for rehab if true...there's no reason for him to risk it.

I'm not shocked. Pujols is beefy, man. He's probably 30 years old, too.

    Re: The List

But how much does Mitchell actually know? He pretty much had no power in this investigation. This will be interesting. Most of what I have heard so far has been conjecture. It isn't all that convincing when the report is about players Mitchell "thinks" did steroids. I hope he has hard evidence.

Edit: Rocket I don't care about. Andy hurts.

    Re: The List

I was shocked by some names:

Varitek really surprised me. Pettitte did as well.

    Other surprises:

Pujols (I was hoping he was just that good)
Dykstra caught me at surprise for some reason
    Prior
    Wood
    Garciaparra

I made my own list before this came out and MANY of these UNCONFIRMED names are on my list.

same with Kerry wood. Both have had so many different injuries and needing to rehab. Remember, prior had plenty of leg injuries before the arm problems started cropping up. twice he had hamstring issues (shut him down in 2002) and in 2004 he had the achilles tendon issue as well which ended up leading to him having some stiffness in his arm later that spring

    NOMAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

At least, if this is true, Mitchell didn't shy away from Red Sox.
