Idiocy in Managerial Decisions/Miguel Tejada injured

Baltimore shortstop Miguel Tejada has a pretty good consecutive games played streak going on. It hit 1,152 with his appearance in today's game.

But he was injured today. The Orioles bat him second, brought him out, had him lay down a bunt, and then pulled him, just to keep his streak alive.

ESPN is now reporting that he has a serious injury, a fractured wrist. I hope somehow Baltimore's decision to make him bunt while hurt caused this.

It was the bean ball to his wrist the day before that hurt him.

In all likelihood he would've been on the DL now anyways.

That said, it was a pretty lame move to try and keep the streak going like that.

But it would seem worse if the bunt made the injury worse, though.

All I'm hoping for is that through forcing him to go out there and use a bat, they increased the severity of the fracture, just a little, just so that they'd be pissing in their own faces.

Did he have a brace on his wrist? If so then I dont think there is a problem at all for him bunting, but if he cant lay down a proper bunt and hurts his wrist, thats his(Tejada's) fault for not learning how to lay down a ****ing bunt.

It's lame because in any other circumstance he'd be sitting on the bench so as not to further injure his wrist, rather than taking an unnecessary risk just to further his streak.

Cal Ripken never did that to keep his streak going. He left in the first inning two times throughout his streak, and both times was due to getting ejected.

You'd think the Orioles, of all teams, would have a bit more respect for a consecutive games played streak than to put an injured player into the line up to bunt just to keep his streak going.

tejada wasnt forced to do anything. knowing Tejada, it was him who wanted to try to preserve the streak. hes extremely proud of said streak.

If Tejada was pushing management to let him go out there, they're dumb for allowing him to when they hadn't fully checked out his wrist yet, even if Tejada didn't want the streak to end.

    definitely not today.

Tejada thinks he can play through the pain, and the O's would reportedly let him.

    God they're awful.

It's the Baltimore SS connection...he should easily go on the DL though.
