Daniel Moskos goes fourth to the Pirates, and the lefthander out of Clemson adds to the Pirates’ recent track record of taking pitchers in the first round. They have taken a pitcher eight of the last 10 years with their first pick. Moskos could close or start and has done both this year for the Tigers, and has done well as a starter. He’s 3-5, 2.91 with six saves and 74 strikeouts in 74 innings heading into a super-regional this weekend against Mississippi State.
In starts of late, Moskos’ velocity has sat at 90-92 mph, and he has a low-80s slider to go with a curveball and changeup. While he has good stuff, he has not dominated in his first extended stint as a college starter.
