I agree with Leo. He was fine until after his playing career.

"For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home."
The rule in baseball is what it has been for decades. Gamble on baseball, out for a year. Gamble on your own team, out for life.
Hitch yourself to the Joe Jackson wagon for consistency, at least.
Rules can be changed and this one should be, or at the very least it should be modified.
At least with Joe Jackson they were 1) Betting on the games while playing and 2) Betting against their own team.
Until it comes out that Pete Rose was gambling while he was actually playing I will stand fast that he deserves to be in Cooperstown.

Pete Rose belongs in the Hall of Fame, just look what he did in his playing career.
They will let cheating spitballers (Gaylord Perry) into the Hall of Fame.
They will let assholes like Ty Cobb into the Hall of Fame.
They will let alcoholic womanizers (Babe Ruth) into the Hall of Fame.
Eventually they will let the 'Roiders into the Hall of Fame (can't keep them out because steroids weren't banned when they were used).
However they won't lift the ban enough to let Rose, one of the best players in the history of the game, into the Hall of Fame.
And on another note,Joe Jackson deserves his rightful spot in the Hall of Fame.I don't believe he threw the 1919 World Series. He hit over .400 and had a couple of big dingers in that series. He jsut got caught up in the scandal, that's all.
You can have both as the HOF is not apart of MLB. He should be in the HOF but be banned from baseball for his actions as a manager.
He should be in the Hall, as should Jackson. Amazing players.
I aim to try
