I love backlash. Watch Phil Hughes get traded for "veteran presence."

Ortiz played in that series, I think he was injured for about a week nearing the end of that month.

You're right on Farnsworth, as he did have chunks then a big break, which I'm not a huge fan of except for closers, who do that by necessity. Torre seemed to rectify that in August and Septemeber, but I've seen enough dead RPs (Q and Flash) in the postseason on the Yankee side to not doubt what ypu've said.

That's the beauty of MLB.TV! I do get to watch as many baseball games as I want anytime I want so yes I do. I am a baseball fan. I don't like the AL, but I watch a lot of it so yes I can comment since I never have said I don't follow it, unlike you. I know more about your Yankees than you do about my Giants and I knew the Yanks would not make it in the WS since they did nothing to help their real need.

You want to know what was available at the deadline? Anything better than Ponson and Erickson was available especially with unlimited resources.

Farnsworth has never been good. To blame this on being overworked is dumb, plain and simple. I predicted before the season he would suck ass in a NY environment. Mna, who could have seen that coming?

Unfortunately, the biggest mark against Torre this season was his complete unwillingness to defend his third baseman. For all of Captain Jeter's leadership skills, he and Torre let a loser like Giambi and others throw Rodriguez under a bus.

Now we get to see the Yankees try and trade huge contracts desperately. It's a buyer's market, folks.

There is a lot of truth there.

So around how many games did you watch? I'm surprised you watched any, since everyone is utterly repulsed by the Yankees.

And we didn't have unlimited resources. We didn't have the prospects to trade. Once again, you've failed to provide any pitcher worth getting at the dealine.

Detroit won two less games than New York. What makes them so much worse that the Tigers had no chance in this series?

They assumed that no Chris Shelton = no chance.

Deal ARod to the cubs for their 1B and 3B, just so the ARod rumblings will die.

I think everyone here at least watched 20 since ESPN showed nothing but the Yankees. I say I saw around 50 games or so. I should point out I do not watvh all the games as I go back and forth but don't miss much of any game I want to see. I like watching Wang pitch because last year I thought he was a bum and now I look like a fool. I like Matsui, Jeter and who doesn't love Sheffield's swing?

As for you pathetic comment that no one was out there so we had to settle for guys like Ponson and Erickson to help, Greg Maddux was traded. The Yanks wwere after Solomon Torres in the deal with Craig Wilson, another Cashman gem Roberto Hernandez was traded. Many more before the season were too. So quit trying to somehow defend Cashman in getting Ponson and Erickson for free when they have all the money inthe world.

I believe at one point Smoltz wanted to go to a contender to help the Braves. So he was a available aswell.

The Yankees have constantly fallen asleep in the playoffs. Torre deserves to be fired for that. I don't critize him for any mangerial decisions- lineup, bullpen, stealing, because none of it matters if the hitters don't hit and the pitchers don't pitch.
The Yankees lineup was insane this year, and will never get any better then what it was this postseason. I don't think you can argue that, and yet they pretty much got shut out by the Tigers.
Anyways, Torre couldn't wake them up, and I think Lou Pinella would make a difference in a good way, in that sense.

Torre has to "wake up" a team worth $200 million? Where was Jeter? Where was Posada? If it's the payers, don't you think it should upon the guy who got themj? The only thing I have against Torre is that he went away from the hit and run the past few seasons. Come to SF where you would be appreciated Joe!

Thats like saying the players needed to be motivated, i'm sorry but knowing your in the playoffs for god sakes, shouldn't that automatically motivate the players? Instead of blaming the manager.

I agree Cashman should be fired, not Torre, but if Torre does than that shows you how stupid the Yankees are, and yet people ***** and complain why people hate the Yankees, this is the reason why!!

I still haven't figured out why you think Abreu was the difference maker. It's like you are insinuating that if the Red Sox had taken on his overpriced contract they would have finished ahead of the Yankees. Even if they would have, they would have fallen victim to Detroit from an exploited weak pitching staff just like the Yankees did. Whatever, fire the whole management staff for all I care, just don't put any blame on the ego maniacs you have on the field!!!!!!! Way I figure it, Jeter is about the only team player you have starting, well maybe Matsui.
