Victor Zambrano will not be ready for the 2007 opener; may never pitch again
Got this from kffl, and it cites The New York Daily News as its source.
Mets | Zambrano's career in jeopardy
Tue, 16 May 2006 10:37:30 -0700
The New York Daily News' Adam Rubin reports New York Mets SP Victor Zambrano's (elbow) career is in jeopardy after having an unexpected Tommy John surgery for the second time in his career. Team doctor David Altchek found a torn ligament that required replacement during what was expected to be a less intense procedure. The Mets had believed the surgery would be limited to repairing a torn flexor tendon and removing bone chips, with the right-hander making a full recovery by spring training. But Zambrano, who had the first procedure done in 1996, will not be ready for the 2007 season opener.
So basically, on two pitches, Zambrano tore a ligament, tore a flexor tendon, and may very well have ended his career. Terrible news.

Sucks for him and the Mets. Looks like they'll need another pitcher...
