The Fox deal is still not going to happen and McCourt still can't make payroll at the end of June. He is in a losing battle here but he is definitely not going down without some sort of fight.
McCourt blames the commissioner's office, of course.
"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans...." John Lennon
McCourt now that's some funny shit right there....."And we brought the Commissioner a media rights deal that would have solved the cash flow challenge I presented to him a year ago, when his leadership team called us a 'model franchise.' Yet he's turned his back on the Dodgers, treated us differently, and forced us to the point we find ourselves in today. I simply cannot allow the Commissioner to knowingly and intentionally be in a position to expose the Dodgers to financial risk any longer. It is my hope that the Chapter 11 process will create a fair and constructive environment to get done what we couldn't achieve with the Commissioner directly."
Now Staff checks are bouncing
Next stop is they miss payroll and the entire roster hits FA instantly
then the Giants get Matt Kemp and Kershaw goes to the Yankees.
Kemp, Kershaw and Ethier aren't going anywhere. Trading them would be the worst PR move in the history of sports.
I was responding under the premise that the entire roster became free agents due to payroll problems...which I know wouldn't really happen.
If they do miss payroll it will be interesting to see what MLB doesn't to stop total chaos and a feeding frenzy from happening.
There's no way MLB will allow the roster to prematurely hit free agency, you fucktards.

If they fail to meet payroll it's no longer "premature" it's just the rules.
If they fail to meet payroll, that is all MLB needs to seize the club outright and kick McCourt's ass to the curb. Besides, for every pre-arbitration player like Clayton Kershaw who hits the open market, there is Juan Uribe and Ted Lilly whose multi-year contracts will be rendered non-guaranteed and that won't fly with the Players Association.
That is true. Too bad it's a rule in place
Too bad that particular rule isn't the one that would be in play, no matter how much Bible thumping you're doing over it.
http://articles.latimes.com/2011/may...court-20110507If the Dodgers fail to meet the payroll, the commissioner's office would pay the salaries, with McCourt almost certainly asked to sell the team. If he were to refuse, the league constitution specifically provides for "involuntary termination" of the franchise if the owner fails to repay any debts to the league within 30 days.
Alternatively, the constitution provides for termination if a team should "fail or refuse to comply with any requirement of the commissioner."
If Selig were to seize the Dodgers and put them up for sale, his office would pay the team's bills during the process, then deduct the expenses from the proceeds of the sale and return the remaining amount to McCourt — or, if California community property law prevails, to McCourt and his ex-wife Jamie.
