    Dodgers Dodgers Sign Mientkiewicz

    The Los Angeles Daily News reports that the Dodgers have signed Doug Mientkiewicz to a minor league contract.
    Mientkiewicz hit .277/.374/.379 for the Pirates last season while seeing extensive action at third base for the first time, but won't be more than a bench bat for the Dodgers. He's a solid pickup and provides nice depth.
    Nice backup in case Loney goes down for some reason. The fact that he can play third adds to his depth as a bench player. Can't believe he went unsigned for this long considering his defense at first.
