    Re: Predicting the '09 Roster

Let's just put it this way: The five spots will be filled by whoever doesn't get hammered by minor league hitters or suffer an injury by the end of spring training. Shit happens and we waste half our season with the likes of Mark Hendrickson, Brett Tomko, and Esteban Loaiza.

Hard to believe this, but if neither Triple A fodder Jason Repko nor Yhency Brazoban make the roster cuts, Jonathan Broxton will be the only holdover from the 2005 roster. It seems like only yesterday that I felt like slashing my wrists upon the sight of Jose Valentin and Jason Phillips in the regular lineup.

    Boxscore: LA Dodgers vs. Oakland - March 16, 2009 | MLB.com: News

The quartet of nincompoops, Weaver, Estes, Vargas, and Milton, have all been blasted thus far.

Nevermind. Abreu has been optioned to Triple A. I say they won't dare use Mientkiewicz as the primary backup 3b, so DeWitt stays on.

    Bench:
    Mientkiewicz 1b/3b
    DeWitt 3b
    Loretta 2b/SS
    Pierre LF/CF
    Ausmus C

Now, I'm not sure that DeWitt stays on. Juan Castro will likely take his spot since he's the token no-stick utility infielder who can play second, short, and third.

Whoops, Dewitt makes the cut. Wow, is Joe Torre turning smart?

For the OOTP nerds, S3SL Hall of Famer Ronnie Belizario earned a spot in the bullpen.
