MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- The Los Angeles Dodgers placed pitcher Brett Tomko on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday.
The move is retroactive to Saturday when Tomko suffered a left oblique strain against Pittsburgh, and left after five scoreless innings. Tomko is 6-6 with a 5.12 ERA in 15 starts this season.
"He's getting better each day, but it'll be awhile before he is ready to pitch," manager Grady Little said. "We feel this way he'll have plenty of time to get back to full strength and be ready to pitch."
His roster spot will be one of two filled by Toby Hall and Mark Hendrickson, acquired Tuesday in a trade with Tampa Bay.
Odalis Perez is scheduled to start in place of Tomko at Minnesota on Wednesday.
