Gross! While his power has completely dropped, I was surprised to see he has 15 steals again. I knew he did well in that area last year but thought he would finally slow down but he hasn't. He's still an OB machine but for a DH making $9 million, he needs to hit for a lot more power.Bobby Abreu's 2012 option for $9 million has vested.
Abreu needed 1,100 plate appearances between 2010-2011 for the option to kick in. After coming to the plate 667 times in 2010, Abreu logged his 433rd trip on Sunday afternoon. While he's hit a reasonable .264/.380/.354 this year, he has just 4 HR (down from 20 in 2010) and can't play the field. He'll be an overpaid DH in 2012.
