John Lackey continued to experience tightness in his forearm during his throwing session Thursday and now appears doubtful to start on Opening Day.

If I was the Angels I wouldn't sign Lackey to that extension, I feel like that 80-90 million could me much better spent in the FA market getting a few quality arms and IF's, I just have a feeling Lackey would be a bust if he got that big a contract.

Lackey is one of the best pitchers in the AL. He is worth an extension but three years is as far as I would go.

Joe Saunders is likely to start on Opening Day for the Angels.

Things are looking up for Ervin Santana, who is "progressing pretty well" from right elbow soreness, the team doctor said. Ace John Lackey, however, will be shut down for a week.

What we think we know with a degree of certainty: They will be replaced by Dustin Moseley, Nick Adenhart and Shane Loux, with Joe Saunders and Jered Weaver fronting the rotation.
