1 strikeout in 7 innings...not exactly a dominant performance. Not really sure how he managed to escape with just 2 runs given up. Last time I checked it was the Angels rotation, not their lineup with all the injuries.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.
Ah, give me something clever to say here.
Hey, he did what he was supposed to do. He threw 80-some pitches in 7 innings, didn't walk anyone, got hitters to hit his pitches, let his defense play behind him, and got the team back into the dugout quickly each inning. Nothing more can be asked of a starting pitcher.
His off-speed stuff was perfect for the opening game. The hitters were "amped-up" and would have hit fastballs hard. He relied on slower stuff, ala Jamie Moyer now.

Yeah, he did his job, and the Angels failed to do theirs. I know they have an inherently aggressive offense, but is Livan NOT going to a throw a meatball twice each AB? It's not that Hernandez relies on slow stuff, it's all he can possibly throw.
yeah, it's all he can throw, but it worked didn't it?

Don't let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.
Livan's all about the 200 innings, no matter what he does in those 200 innings. He's a better hitter than a pitcher.
Marshall: MILSWANCAs?
Ted: Wait, I can get this. Mothers I'd like to sleep with and never call again.
Barney: Circle gets the square!

Its safe to say that their pitching is still pretty damn good.
2003 Hybrid World Champion (115-47 reg season, 11-4 playoffs)
TBL: Anaheim Angels 2006-present (238-244 regular season, 1 division title)
MSL: St Louis Cardinals 2013-present (2734-2936 regular season, 5 division titles, 2 championships)
TSSL: Seattle Mariners 2006-2029, Pittsburgh Pirates 2030-present (209-277, 5 division titles w/SEA, 1 championship w/SEA)
The Angels pitching should be just fine this season, with or without Lackey and Escobar. With them the WS is a possiblity. Without them, they are still in the playoff hunt.
