    Nick Adenhart feeling?

It looks like Dustin Moseley is in as last spot of the rotation, replacing the injured John Lackey. However, I think Scioscia ought to give Nick Adenhart a position in the bullpen. With Shields and Bootcheck in doubt for Opening Day and Moseley moving to the rotation, the bullpen is just two deep with K-Rod and Speier. Darren Oliver isn't an answer, except to the question of which guy on the team is best in fantasy football:

Nick Adenhart is a good young talent, also a very nice guy. I had a chance to talk to him several times when he pitched in Cedar Rapids and he was shocked that someone would ask him about his elbow -- he was a couple of years removed from Tommy John surgery at the time. He said his arm was OK and that he was ready to show what he could do.
I would like to see him remain a starter, so he can keep his endurance up and be moved into the rotation when a spot opens up.

Shields will be out for Opening Day. It sounds like a reasonable thing to do to get him some big league innings any way he can.

I'm all for starting young talented guys in the bullpen. Why not throw Adenhart in there? I don't see how it hurts the Angels.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Giving him a "taste" of major league life is one thing, but this kid has the stuff to be a top-of-the-rotation starter and needs to stay on his routine, IMO. Maybe he could be the #6 starter and the first guy out of the bullpen in a blowout, sort of like the way the Twins handled Liriano a couple of seasons back?
