Royals Yankees interested in all Royals outfielders

One name that has cropped up is Chip Ambres, a former No. 1 pick of the Florida Marlins who was traded Tuesday from Boston to Kansas City.

In fact, the Yankees seem to have interest in just about all the Royals outfielders. The Yankees had three scouts at last night's Kansas City-Cleveland game (Ambres made his major-league debut in left field, David DeJesus started in center and Emil Brown was in right).

If the Yankees get Matt Stairs and move Matsui to CF, I'm going to cry.

Why would you cry? The Yankees could get something bigger than Stairs IMO. Actually, I bet they do just that. I think it would be good for the BoSox if they went with Stairs.

Allan Baird would be the worst GM if he got rid of DeJesus and Brown. Royals need all the help they can get and the Yankees have nothing to offer in that dept.

DeJesus isn't going anywhere. As for Brown, that'd be a possibility. He's already 30 and not in the long term plans for the Royals.

The Royals would be damn fools to trade DeJesus. He's going to be a fine, very solid, everyday kind of player. He won't be a star but a piece to the Royals puzzle in the future. I hate when the Yankees trade for young talent anyways, when they acquire their usual 38 and over guys, there is always a chance for the 200 million dollar breakdown. And no, I am not really a Yankee hater, just a general asshole.

Not to mention that the Royals have to pay DeJesus peanuts for the next 3 years. Who are the Yankees going to give them, that doesn't have a jumbo contract?

Heh, Yankees intrested in Emil Brown.

Guess Columbus needs a new right fielder.

As well has he's played for the Royals this year, I just can't see him in Yankees uniform.

Stairs is just as good a hitter as Dejesus or Emil Brown this year, has been for a good decade and has never got the credit he deserved as a player. He's cheap, a good hitter, and he isn't THAT bad in the field. He isn't good in the field, but if you're playing Tony ****ing Womack in the field, it's clear they don't care about fielding. He is a below average defensive RF and an average defensive LF.

Most teams would love to have an OF who can play an average LF and who can hit the ball with patience at the plate. Of course, most teams don't appreciate a player like Stairs.

I really don't know why a team wouldn't take him on as a good piece to have. He isn't expensive, he isn't a liability in the field, he can put up a low .800's OPS, in a good year he K's only a bit more than he walks. He's been a part-time player since teams won't give him the chance to play full-time (much like Trot Nixon) against lefties and he has still hit 15+ HRs a year for 8 years now and he has 14 this year. He's better outside of KC as well.

The Sox would be foolish to want Stairs in the division. They have one lefty SP and two lefty RPs, a long guy and a lefty specialist. The lefty specialist is already being used on Giambi types instead of a guy like Stairs who could be hit 9th and not be an automatic out like Melky Cabrera or Tony Womack, and to a lesser extent Bernie Williams. Halama blows and his uses are limited. Taking those two out, Stairs is a good hitter versus RHP and that's where the Sox talent lies.
