Royals ink Yuni Betancourt

Royals signed SS Yuniesky Betancourt to a one-year contract.
According to the club's official Twitter account, Betancourt will serve as a backup at "short, third and second" next season in Kansas City. He posted a rough .252/.271/.381 batting line in 2011 for the Brewers while playing his usual brand of poor defense. No word yet on the financial terms.

Betancourt was part of the Grienke trade to Milwaukee so he returns to KC to play where he should have been playing all along, as backup infielder. He is terrible defensively but does have some pop in his bat.

Perhaps he could be a better fielder at 3B, 2B, or even 1B. It's a solid addition in that sense, a veteran super sub to back up all the young guys.
