Will Moustakas be next?

Even though the Royals are staying competitive, they continue to call up some of their better farmhands. Right now, their oldest pitchers are Francis and Tejada. We've seen Crow, Collins, Duffy, Hosmer, etc. so far.

Will Mike Moustakas be next? If so the former SS, now 3B, would maybe allow the Royals shop some of their veteran infielders if he were to make an early mark in the bigs. Someone like Betemit or Aviles might become available for them to deal to anyone needing depth or emergency services at 3B, 2B, or 1B. I don't know what they have in the minors at catcher, but they're certainly weak in the bigs with just Treanor, Kendall, and Brayan Pena. Could be a good sequence of events as the Royals gear up for the immediate future.

I don't see Moustakas being called up until Betemit is traded which won't be for a while. Moustakas has struggled at AAA so he needs to work on some things still.

Betemit is at least hitting for average right now and he plays pretty good defense. He won't put up the power numbers Mike Moustaskas, but right now I don't think it is the time to rush everyone up.

Well I was wrong, Moustakas has been called up and Aviles has been sent down.

He better be played everyday over Betemit or this move wouldn't make sense.
