Should the Royals trade David DeJesus?

Buster Olney said today that the Royals would want until closer to the deadline to determine whether or not they would deal David DeJesus.
On one hand, DeJesus is one of the team's very best players not only now but will be in the future. On the other, he has a club option for 2011 but will be a free agent soon, and why would he return to the Royals? I'm sure he is quite attractive to a lot of contending teams, and you could get a nice haul.
But back to the first hand, if you trade him aren't you eternally rebuilding like the Pirates?

They should deal him, find someone willing to overpay. He doesn't steal bases, he barely has double digit homerun power, and his OBP this season is way over his norm. I'd most certainly find a taker and run with it. The problem with the royals lineup is, they don't have much power. They have 6-7 Dejesus's that make a lot of contact, and that's about it. If they can land a pitcher or a power hitting prospect for him, that's a smart move for the royals.

I would imagine they probably will trade at some point but I'm for holding out until the last possible moment. The Royals need to keep SOME talent around and DeJesus, while not perfect, is at least a solid big league starter. They, like the Pirates, need to get out of eternally rebuilding mode.

I think he's mostly average at best. They've had several outfielders with more talent get dealt than DeJesus. If there's a strong offer out there, they need to take it before the average and OBP comes back down to Earth.

The Jesus is out for the year. Guess they shouldn't have waited until the deadline to unload him. Oops.
