    Tomko On His 7th Team

The Royals and Brett Tomko have reportedly agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract.
It's so ridiculous to complain about what Alex Rodriguez is making when baseball is swimming in so much cash that Tomko can disappoint organization after organization and still receive $3 million. The soon-to-be 35-year-old had a 5.55 ERA while pitching in two of the National League's bigger ballparks last season. Once in 10 years -- with the Giants in 2004 -- has he actually met the expectations a team had for him. There's simply way too much money being made by baseball if he's worth $3 million.
Royals make another pitching addition and Tomko will go to the AL for the second time in his career. Seattle was his first stop and didn't do so well. He brings experience and more importantly competition to make the younger guys play better.

That's true that Bombko makes the younger guys better. Because they can't pitch a baseball any worse than he can.

Good move, KC needed another AAA starter for $3 million.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Is that what you call a journeyman? hahahaha....

Maybe add some veteran leadership to this team, who knows.

Ehhhh, if he starts to suck in April, send him down to Omaha and let him stay there for the year.

If you're looking for veteran leadership and you sign Brett Tomko, you're idiots.

Hey, he is still a veteran, even if he is NOT as successful a he may have hoped, but a lot of times these are the types of players that are good mentors and coaches/managers in the future after their playing days.

Not too many veterans worth a damn to pick up. It's not like he was first on their list.

Bombko may or may not be the next Leo Mazzone, but I'm not taking your word for it if you believe that even Hideo Nomo would make a good mentor.

I am glad he is not a Brewer either. Just an opinion, plus he may just be a quick fix to give prospects one more year to develop.

He may not be all that good but I'm fine with this. The Royals are rebuilding and they have a lot of young pitchers coming up who may or may not be ready. This guy will provide depth and help eat some innings and fill in if the youngsters struggle or are on a limit in innings.
