Guillen comes with a steroid controversy but I think this is the right move for the Royals. His price should be lower than originally expected because of this news which works in the Royals favor. The Royals didn't have one player hit more than 20 homeruns or drive in 70 runs!! Hell, they only had two players get double digits in homers! That is horrible!! Guillen hit 23 homeruns and drove in 99 so this would be a much needed upgrade plus he still has a good arm in the OF. They no longer have Sweeney's contract to worry about so the Royals need Jose and another bat. Broussard from the M's might be a player for them to watch.According to the Kansas City Star, Jose Guillen is now "the indisputable No. 1 on the Royals' list of offseason targets."
Kansas City was interested in Torii Hunter, but will now apparently look to Guillen for a right-handed outfield bat. "Obviously, our objective remains the same," general manager Dayton Moore said. "We do want to acquire a right-handed bat to hit in the middle of our order, and we'll keep working through every opportunity imaginable."
