    Royals Royals Claim RP Wellemeyer Off Waivers From Florida

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) -- The Kansas City Royals claimed right-hander Todd Wellemeyer on waivers from the Florida Marlins on Friday.

    The 27-year-old Wellemeyer was 0-2 with a 5.48 ERA in 18 relief appearances with the Marlins. He pitched three seasons with the Chicago Cubs, going 5-3 with two saves and a 6.19 ERA in 57 games.

    To make room on the 40-man roster, the Royals designated right-hander Steve Andrade for assignment. Andrade had a 9.64 ERA in four relief appearances.

    Right now any breathing pitcher would do for the hapless Royals.
