The Astros and Aaron Boone have come to terms on a one-year deal, MLB.com reports.
If the Astros seriously intend to go with a Geoff Blum-Boone platoon at third base, then they could conceivably find themselves at the bottom of the NL at three positions next year. They're used to the massive sinkholes in center field and catcher by now. Boone still hits lefties well enough to be of some use and wouldn't necessarily be a bad platoon partner for a quality infielder. The problem is that the Astros need to upgrade from Blum, not find a complement for him.
