Seems like a lot of Reds' fans are big Wily Mo fans.
Not sure if this trade is going to ease the burden despite Cincinnati's pitching woes.
damn you Boston, quit making good deals

I was thinking how the Reds didn't have enough pitching, but after this trade, it seems like they still don't have enough pitching but now I'm thinking that they don't have enough outfielders either. LOL.
Excellent point DK. Reds trade a future stud for a half decent pitcher. Improved pitching, yes. Enough to matter, no.
Unless you want to trade Dunn no matter who the Reds trade it wouldnt have gotten enough pitching to matter. Womack for ANYTHING and Bubbba, Bong, and bong to keep O'Brien spacey for Reitsma is still much worse than this deal.Originally Posted by volzok
You cant just turn a team from a loser to a winner in one year UNLESS YOU SPEND 100 mil dollars, and even then it wouldnt matter. Because the new owners didnt have a chance to get into power BEFORE FA was basically over. Many of the excess crap was brought in by O'BRIEN before he got canned.
If this means everyday at bats for Ryan Freel then IMO its a positive.

Speaking of Ryan Freel, I didn't know he was half-Cuban....
WOW! I cant believe you just said that. I didnt know that Freel was that good. Maybe we will win the division this year.Originally Posted by Slyder
Finally the Reds pull the string on a deal and I think it works for both clubs. The Reds get a pitcher which should be enough said but Arroyo is cheap and can eat innings. The Reds have him for the next three years so that is one less thing to worry about. The Sox get a OFer with pop to fill in for Manny and Trot in late innings and possibly DH every now and then.
I think its a good deal for both sides. Some of you Reds fans take homerism to a new level.

Which combo would you rather have hitting in front of the power every day?

So what's the return policy on Juan Gone?
He signed an MLC so probably not much besides tell him bye.Originally Posted by love_that_reefer

Personally, I would like to have Freel leadoff with Pena in the lineup. Also, how exactly does this trade help Freel get more ABs? What the occasional spot start in the OF? Whoopie. Thats not everyday ABs. That would be a more valid point if we traded Womack or Aurilia. To me it looks like hes still behind them at this point. This means Hatteberg is getting everyday ABs. So what did they really solve there?
Freel is most likely your everyday left fielder with Womack or Aurilia at second and Dunn staying at first or at least a smart manager would do this. Hatteberg is not everyday material. This will get Freel more ABs and help this offense.
