    Renteria to the Braves?

    Talks are "percolating" tonight on the proposed three-team deal sending Edgar Renteria to Atlanta, Andy Marte to Tampa Bay and Julio Lugo to Boston, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

    Confirming the Globe's report. The Braves also discussed a three-team deal with Colorado and Tampa Bay that would have put Lugo in Atlanta and Johnny Estrada in Colorado, but those negotiations cooled some as the other trade talks began heating up.

    Yea I posted this in the Sox forum. I dont like this deal at all, Rent is a damn good SS, we just need to give him time. I bet he returns to his defensive form in the 06 season.

    Renteria didn't do as well as I thought he would do but it was his first year in a new league and his offense should improve. His defense is a mystery. There is no excuse for how poor his defense was but don't expect it to happen again. Sox should hold on to him especially now that they got Loretta to be his DP partner.

    As far as the Drays trying to lose forever, yes. They aren't trying to get a pitcher in this deal are they?

    I like it for the DRays, Marte could end up being very nice for them. Besides, it's not like the woman beater was blazing over the competition at SS for them.

    tampa does need pitching, yes... but...

    marte, upton, cantu... young, crawford, baldelli, gomes... what a young lineup they would have. plus if niemann and townsend get to the pros (townsend already had tj surgery but meh), thatll be a decent start to a rotation combined with kazmir.

    Renteria is old and overrated. The Braves would be smarter trading for Lugo or just staying within the system.
