    Even if Boston’s management believes its relationship with the soon-to-be free agent is irreparable and is no longer considering Garciaparra a component of its long-term plan, moving him at this point in the season is illogical.

    Epstein stayed out of the fray, but finally said he wished both sides could just move on with their lives. He pointed out his team had tried to resign Garciaparra to a $48 million contract and said Garciaparra had been a hard working, loyal and productive employee so enough already.

    That seemed to quiet everybody.
    If media did criticize , it wasn't for long. Like I said, no fans that I talked to ever complained and that was more than a handful of Boston fans. I didn't get the meaning of that last quote. He said it was illogical when it was clearly logical but hey whatever. Most baseball people knew that it was a good thing for Nomar to leave.

    I agree Nomar had to go, but when it happened it still surprised alot of people including me. Theo said one time when he was interviewed duing a game, he was scared to come out of his house for a few days, nomar meant alot to the team.

    Gary Matthews is not white and he was the CF for most of the season I believe after someone got hurt.
