I'm obviously not saying that's how it went down. I'm just providing an example of one of the many different types of scenarios that can be filled into the context we don't have from a report that just has Dave Stewart saying he asked for Goldy.

Of course, he could have asked for him straight up knowing what the answer would be when in reality he didn't want to give him to a division rival? You can make a complaint about tact if that's the case but it's still not the same as painting a scenario where he thinks that's a reasonable offer.
