Tyler Flowers is the guy I wanted out of Atlanta when they were talking Peavy early this year...then I was hoping we'd pull him out of your system.......we're in desperate need of catchers......I'm shocked he wasn't demanded

Wynn Pelzer? I know he has a nice k-bb rate over his minor league career, but keep two things in mind: he's already 23 (maybe 24 now even?) and he hasn't eclipsed high-A. He's also pretty much a two-pitch, FB/Slider guy, and has a max effort delivery that would work a lot better if he was coming out of the pen...
I don't think he's going to develop into a frontline starter... if he can add a 3rd pitch, maybe a changeup, that might help him stick as a SP... but I think his upside is setup man or possibly closer in the best scenario.
BIZARRE AND MY MOM!!!!!
u still fat
I like Pelzer's make up and think he's got a shot at starting rotation stuff......time will tell of course, and he's not a top of the rotation guy.....sorry if I eluded to that it wasn't intentional....just saying that there is another potential starting pitcher on the way.
Also he just turned 23 in June
Breaking Down The Draft’s 1st Round: Picks 21-30That said, I'm willing to bet on two things on Poreda with the certainty that at least one of them will occur:
1) He will lose his mid-90s velocity rather quickly.
2) He will shred his arm.

PADRES ANALYSIS: Padres reaping benefits of trading former ace PeavyThat does it. Every time these homers roll out with another fluff piece about quantity over quality, the following photo should be attached as a disclaimer:Manager Bud Black is reaping the benefits. Compared with last spring training, the Padres boast considerably more talent. Consider:
-- The Padres acquired four pitchers in the Peavy deal: Clayton Richard, Aaron Poreda, Adam Russell and Dexter Carter.
-- Hoyer signed free agents Jon Garland ($5.3 million), Jerry Hairston Jr. ($2.125 million), Yorvit Torrealba ($1.25 million) and Matt Stairs ($750,000 if he makes the team).
-- Hoyer traded for and signed outfielder Scott Hairston ($2 million).
-- Hoyer kept arbitration-eligible pitchers Heath Bell ($4 million), Kevin Correia ($3.6 million) and Mike Adams ($1 million).
Only Kevin Kouzmanoff -- who was more a victim of the franchise's depth at third base -- was traded away.
The additions have left Black with numerous options. His bench is deeper than at any time during his previous three seasons as manager. His rotation features Garland, Correia and Richard, none of whom likely would be in camp if Peavy were still a Padre. Finally, instead of having to find a replacement for Bell in the closer's role, Black has a bullpen with a settled back end.
"We got four good arms that we got back in that trade, and it gives Jed the opportunity to explore some names that maybe they couldn't have afforded to before," Black said.

I'm not sold on the Peavy trade unless at least two of the pitchers they acquired in return prove to be better than just "good". That doesn't necessarily mean either has to be better than Jake, but if at least two of them are very good I can agree with the "quantity over quality" argument because it pertains to the starting rotation.
That being said, all we've seen to this point is Clayton Richard showing flashes of potential in between some shitty outings in his first half year here so I'm not sold just yet.
In short, it's way too early for a write-up like that.

Clayton Richard flashes of potential? You do realize guys who maintain a mediocre strikeout rate throughout the minor league levels and in the major league like Richard has done don't have a great deal of upside, don't you? Besides not missing enough bats, he isn't a groundball inducing machine. So how exactly will Clayton Richard make a better pitcher than Peavy, besides hoping that Peavy's arm will run out of bullets?

I can't even agree with Mofo without him finding some way to trash the post like I'm being overly optimistic.
Chill out, dude. All I meant by that was that he had a few good outings...which he did.
Big deal, I also said he looked shitty at times. What more do you want?
