ESPN is saying that Adam Dunn has been traded to the D-bags in return for three prospects.
ESPN - D-backs get Dunn from Reds for three prospects - MLB
This should be an interesting race down the stretch between the Dodgers and Bags.

he cleared waivers? or fell all the way to the D-Backs?
This is out of no where. I never even heard he was on waivers?

Nothing says 'Win Now' like Dallas Buck, a prospect in A ball who hasn't gotten his stuff back after surgery and two PTBNL. Unless the two PTBNL is at least one of Parker or a Schezer or someone of that nature, which they won't be of course.... can I get those two picks back?
Buck is such a gamble and usually PTBNL's are nothing special although some higher caliber deals have shown otherwise and sadly it all comes down to those two players making this deal tolerable or a complete waste of passing up two good picks.

generally, everyone is put on waivers so that doesn't surprise me. Apparently, the D-Backs won the claim and that surprises me a little.

(Before anyone beats me to it, I know Arizona would be crazy to give up a Parker or a Schezer, it won't happen but that's what I would want. Dunn is 28 and frankly the only person on the team outside of Bruce who could significantly impact the offense in a meaningful way above replacement player.)

don't the prospects also need to clear waivers? if so, I doubt the two guys you mentioned would clear. Obviously, Buck would given his injury history. I'm almost certain they have to clear through waivers if they're on the 40-man roster, which Scherzer is so I can guarantee you Scherzer will not be included. Parker is not on the 40-man so it may be possible for him to be included if the D-Backs wanted to.
I've already basically said they will not be included. I am not holding my hopes out for either.
As for who can or can't be included, I believe they can not be on the 25 man roster, so Schezer would not be possible but Parker would be. Neither would be included or offered though.
Oh and the Reds traded cash with Dunn. All this for 24 year old A-ball pitcher Dallas Buck and likely junk. Walt Jocketty is really turning this franchise around if it is junk. If we get one high value prospect with a bit more certainty than Buck.... I could maybe live with it. If we got Parker, I would flip out. If we got just Buck and resigned Dunn in the offseason, I'd be just fine with that though.

I know what you said...I was just trying to determine if it would be possible...not if it would happen.
Gotcha.
I am hoping since cash is included that the PTBNL will be better than what I am thinking from a worst possible scenario approach. At the very least this should exceed the two compensation picks given the salary thrown in, but who knows.
It's a shame the guy was 28 and had 270 career homers. We have won one single game since Griffey left and I guess they expect things will only get better once our leading RC leaves too.

what are we trying to do, make sure we are out of contention next year or two
That surprises me too, especially since cash was included in the deal. For some reason baseball GM's seem to undervalue Adam Dunn. I don't understand why they wouldn't keep Dunn to get the picks, unless they were afraid he would accept arbitration. When Jocketty was a GM, he almost never offered arbitration to players in order to get the picks.
He fits in perfectly with their swing and miss a lot mentality.
Marshall: MILSWANCAs?
Ted: Wait, I can get this. Mothers I'd like to sleep with and never call again.
Barney: Circle gets the square!
