    Re: Manny the Dodger

Anyone else feel like the Pirates were the 3rd wheel in this the whole time? They got some decent players though, although many prospects go to die in Pittsburgh.

Anyway, good trade all-around, I'm happy to see Manny go though.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

    Re: Manny the Dodger

This was an amazing deal, We got Bay for a complainer and 2 marginal prospects (Moss will be an okay pro think Eric Hinske, and Hansen has talent but couldn't put it together) We also save 12 mil next yr so we can go get another great player to add...

Pirates got four guys a let go one. Those four players have a lot of talent and can be of use. The Pirates got four players for BOTH Marte and Nady. Those four, not so much talent. Pirates did a lot better on this trade. A lot better.

They are useful players but none are stellar prospects...they are all B level prospects...the Red Sox have a ton of these

I think LaRoche can still be good if eh ever stays healthy, Moss is a good on base guy and Hansen could be their closer in a couple of seasons.

Yeah, CJ, don't give up on Hansen and Moss...they may not be Manny and Paplebon, but those two can turn out to be very good.

Also, I don't know what "great" player you think the Red Sox can get for 12 million?

Well its the 12 mil for manny and the 8 from schilling that gets me up to 20 million... I go to PawSox games on a weekly basis, I've seen hansen and moss and i can tell u they are nothing special at all, we got better OF prospects in our system and hansen is very bad...maybe a change helps but his control is horrible

*Note to Dodgers: Please make him clean up his act and wear his uniform like a respectable ball player instead of a freaking slob.

    Thank You. That is all.

    Re: Manny the Dodger

I will say this... Hansen has awesome potential, IF he can ever harness that talent. Now, to this point he has really yet to show that, but he's shown us a few glimpses here and there.

As far as Moss, I've always liked him and I think he will do well for the Pirates. I was never really sure I considered him one of our top 10 prospects though as some sites would claim. But none the less, the Pirates got a OF with good potential.

All in all the Pirates did well in this deal, I do hate the fact that we traded $7 million, Moss, and Hansen ALONG with Manny and didn't even manage to nab a bullpen arm such as Grabow.

Overall, I will say we slightly worsened our team in the short term, in regards to a playoff run being that we dealt 1 of our 2 deadly hitters in Manny, dealt from our bullpen in Hansen, even though we did manage to acquire Bay. Which in regards to Bay vs. Manny, I believe in the long run, its better overall for the BoSox given Manny's age and contract status.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

His agent is Joe Urbon. But I don't know much about him. I wouldn't count on Bay signing an extension, though I guess it's possible.

Manny's numbers lifetime against the Yankees: .321 BA, .1.029 OPS, 55 HRs, 163 RBIs in 200 games

Thank you for trading him Red Sox.

CJ, Manny may be a complainer, but he is one damn good player.

    Re: Manny the Dodger

Manny is one of the best right hand hitters of all time. I think the Sox will still make the playoffs, but there is no way you can expect to put as much fear into the hearts of pitchers without Manny.
