    Not quite.....

    ESPN Report

The Pirates will receive four minor leaguers including right-handed pitcher Ross Ohlendorf, right-handed pitcher George Kontos, left-handed pitcher Phil Coke and right fielder Jose Tabata in return.

    Re: Nady and Marte traded...

Tabata was overweight and nearly quit baseball before his wife convinced him to rejoin Trenton. Sure, he has all the tools and very well could it all together in Pittsburgh but the kid is 19 years old and still 2-3 years away from helping this team. The fact that Austin Jackson is hitting .296 in AA and showing improved power made Tabata expendable. Maybe we sold low on him but he hasn't been the same player since he got hit on the wrist last year, more than one source has said that his bat had slowed over the past year.

We can't keep running Brett "Toothpick" Gardener out there and expect to keep winning, not with the lineup also including Jose Molina and Melky Cabrera. Xavier Nady is an average player but on this team if you can plug an average player into the seventh spot, you're making a difference. Plus it helps balance the lineup with another right handed bat.

Kontos and Coke are C prospects and Ross Ohlendorf has never had consistent success. That being said I don't know what to think of this trade and I don't think we'll get a good idea of it for a while. But my initial reaction is positive; we needed to improve the lineup and we did and we got a nifty left handed reliever as well.

One interesting note is that we got Marte right in the middle of this Boston series...he could be trotting out as early as tomorrow to pitch to Papi.

Browntown should be happy that Ross is gone.

    Re: Nady and Marte traded...

Wasn't Nady already a member of a New York baseball team?
And if memory serves me correct the results were halarious, as in he didn't finish off the season. I know a lot has changed, but come on now.

    Re: Nady and Marte traded...

I cannot believe that is the best the Pirates could do for two of their best trade pieces. Ohlendorf?? Are you ****ing kidding me? Plus you guys have to other two prospects wrong. Its Jeff Karstens and Daniel McCutchen. Tabata might not play the rest of the year with hamstring injuries but he is only 19. Tabata is a risk. McCutchen looks like he can contribute at some level with the Pirates and Karstens is nothing special at all. The Pirates made a terrible deal since they gave up two good players and didn't get a lot in return. Another team letting the Yankees off the hook. Yankees fans should be very happy with what they got. Someone said Nady is average but he is having an above average year. Yanks just got an OFer hitting .330 with 13 HRs. They also got a good lefthanded reliever which they needed. All in all, the Yankees got a lot better and the Pirates got hosed.......again.

Reefer probably said the twins got nothing special at all back when the giants traded for AJ.
