Were it up to me, I'd send Johan to the Angels for the package they have on the table. Willits could slide right in in center. Brandon Wood could be moved to 3B. Kendrick is a very good hitter and can play 2B adequately. Nick Adenhart is the best pitching prospect the Angels have and he has great stuff. All of the kids the Angels have offered are good kids and would be great in the clubhouse.
    Interesting topic to think about.

If I were the Angels, I couldn't make that deal for a guy pitching every fifth day plus signing him to a huge deal next year.

    Re: Santana Trade Talks

MLBTradeRumors.com, citing a trusted New York sportswriter, says the Twins have attempted to initiate talks on a three-year deal that would net them Dan Haren, send Johan Santana to the Mets and Jose Reyes to the A's.
It's a huge long shot, but it is the kind of deal the Twins should have been aiming for in the first place if they wanted to stay in contention. This rumor has the A's also sending Bobby Crosby and Dan Johnson to the Mets, while getting Kevin Mulvey back. Hector Pellot would go to the Twins.
mlbtraderumors.com is hardly ever right but if this is true, talk about an offseason to remember. What the Mets would do i have no idea, possibly trade him. Haren would be a nice replacement.

I was just about to post that in a separate topic actually That would be one of the most amazing trades in MLB history, talk about a crazy 3-way deal.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.

Ah, give me something clever to say here.

Good find man, but this is absolutely ridiculous. There is no way the Mets are going to get rid of Reyes? And who exactly are the Twins getting in return? I'm sure it's not the package that they are looking for.

Twins would be getting Haren and a second baseman in A ball according to this. Not to mention shedding payroll.

    Ok.
But if they won't accept a 3 or 4 player deal from either New York, Boston, or the Angels, i find it hard to believe that this deal would get done.

    Re: Santana Trade Talks

You are telling me you wouldn't accept what would essentially be Santana (FA after the year and making $13.25 mil this year) for Haren (under control for three years for just $16.25)?? He's about the only guy who could fill Santana's shoes.

    Twins Re: Santana Trade Talks

I would like to see the Twins sign Santana. If he does go, Haren would be a sufficient replacement. I just don't see the Twins, after hearing all these offers, are going to make a move during the winter meetings. It was reported on ESPN that the Twins may not make a move during winter meetins but will still move him before Christmas. And if they wait that long, I don't think that Haren will still be available.

    Re: Santana Trade Talks

    Here is some ridiculousness:

    Per mlbtraderumors.com

    Santana/Reyes/Haren Blockbuster In The Works?

Just got an incredible rumor from a trusted New York sportswriter. Stay with me, because this one's crazy. But rest assured that if the source wasn't good, I wouldn't post it.

Minnesota has initiated talks for a three-way blockbuster with the Twins and A's. Here's how it would go down:

Mets send Jose Reyes, Kevin Mulvey, and Hector Pellot to A's
A's send Bobby Crosby and Dan Johnson to Mets
A's send Dan Haren to Twins
Twins send Johan Santana to Mets

Mets get Johan Santana, Bobby Crosby and Dan Johnson
A's get Jose Reyes and Kevin Mulvey
Twins get Dan Haren and Hector Pellot

The source says Haren is exactly the type of player the Twins want for Santana, a cheap frontline starter. It's known the Mets would hate to deal Reyes but they would get some value beyond Santana. Billy Beane is happy because he gets Reyes for one more year than he had Haren plus longtime favorite Mulvey.

    Re: Santana Trade Talks

A's GM Billy Beane said there was no truth to the rumored three-team deal sending Jose Reyes to the A's, Johan Santana to the Mets and Dan Haren to the Twins.
"I rarely comment on trades publicly, but let me comment on this one: It is an absolute, total fabrication," Beane said. Mets GM Omar Minaya also went out of his way today to reiterate that Reyes will not be traded.
Would have been fun to talk about.

Haha, that took far too long to be shot down. Someone just got undeserved attention.

    Re: Santana Trade Talks

The Minneapolis Star Tribune believes that Kei Igawa's name has come up in some discussions between the Twins and Yankees regarding Johan Santana.
There have been plenty of mixed messages about whether the Twins are interested in taking back any salary in a Santana deal or not. Judging from what they've spent to land Mike Lamb and Adam Everett, they seem to be open to picking up $3 million-$5 million players, and Igawa is right in that range if the Yankees are willing to give up on him. Still, the Twins probably wouldn't look at him as a major part of a deal. There's been nothing to suggest the teams have talked at all so far this week. LaVelle E. Neal III only says the Twins checked in with the Yankees, Red Sox and Mets before the holiday break.
Are you ****ing kidding me? Igawa sucks major league balls and shouldn't be in any trade talks. Why do teams feel obligated on getting the yankees out of bad deals? Last year it was Jaret Wright and Randy Johnson and I could name 100 more but don't have the time. Leave the shitty players with the Yankees. The rest of us fans will love you for it!!

    Re: Santana Trade Talks

Kei Igawa might be a decent #5 starter for someone, but the Twins need a whole lot more for Santana that this. If he, Phillip Hughes, Robinson Cano and Melky Cabrera were in the deal, I might take it. Igawa would be the "throw-in".
