Hunter cannot be traded until mid may...
Plus I'm pretty sure the Twins wouldn't take him back.

Angels...Wood, Adenhart and an OF spec for Santana.
Get it done.
I agree with you about the new park deal. Young in right would be better. And I would literally s*** myself if we traded with the Angels and got Torii back. But who knows for sure. With the winter meetings getting started, it'll be interesting to see what really happens this offseason.

I hope Johan gets traded to the Dodgers, far, far away from the AL...it won't happen though.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.
Ah, give me something clever to say here.
The Twins aren't happy with the Yankees for giving them an ultimatum regarding the Johan offer. They feel like the have the right (which they do) to shop around see where they can get the best for him, if they decide to let him go at all. That makes me question whether or not the Yankees really want him. Kinda sounds like they are just saying that to make other teams who are still trying to get a package together sweat a little bit.

I have never heard of this. Wonder if they do it or even if the can?The Twins, expected to resume discussions with the Yankees and Red Sox about left-hander Johan Santana on Monday, are considering filing tampering charges against the Yankees because of Hank Steinbrenner's public comments about the pitcher, according to a major-league source. Meanwhile, the Twins also are discussing trades involving closer Joe Nathan, with the Astros being one possible suitor.
Are the charges being filed because of the ultimatum the Yanks gave? Or is there sometihng else going on?

Not really sure right now. It sounds like that's why.
I don't blame them. It looks like Hank is trying to throw is weight around like George, but he may not know the moral limits of small market teams.

I assumed it was because Hank seemed to be trying to send a message straight to Santana about how much the Yanks want him.
I don't think it is about the deadline. Teams set deadlines all the time. Remember waaay back to 2003 when the Rangers set a deadline with the Red Sox when they were trying to get that A-Rod deal worked out?
Edit: And just as the Twins have the right to shop Santana around, the Yanks have the right to back out of negotiations for the pitcher as loudly as they wish. I can understand the Twins' annoyance. As the trading party, they should have the leverage, and having the Yankees back out of the bidding if a decision isn't made by tonight takes away a big potential trade partner, and thus the potential to drive the price up even farther than it already is through a bidding war.
what is the status right now? We need to move Santana. He would not sign with us at 20 million a year @ 4 years so lets get a deal done today.

No need to rush.
Unless they just want to deal with the Sox. If the Yanks leave the talks, why would the Red Sox want to up their current unacceptable offer?
The Twins are better off playing the season with Santana and Liriano fronting their rotation. See where they can go.
If Santana stays, deep into postseason IMO.
