Jones and Monroe isn't really firesale material. Just cutting the fat. I think they are clearin room for Fukudome or possibly one of the many CFers.

Monroe hits well in the Metrodome. I see him being our everyday dh, 30 homers 100 rbis should be where he will be at when the season ends. As a Twins fan I like the move.

The Twins likely made this signing focusing purely on what Monroe has done against them.
I've always liked Monroe as well. He can actually play a bit in the outfield, as opposed to some of the guys the Twins have picked up in recent years. He can run, has some power (the above prediction may be a bit optimistic), and hits very well in the Dome. He'll play there for a very short time, hopefully.
