Jacque Jones To The Tigers

According to the Detroit Free Press, the Tigers and Cubs are close to swapping Jacque Jones for Omar Infante.
An announcement is expected to come as soon as Monday. Jones is set to make $5.5 million in the final year of his contract and would likely play left field for the Tigers, giving them a left-handed bat and improving their defense.

This makes it all more clear that they are going hard after Fukudome. Fukudome became a FA yesterday so now the Cubs are clearing a spot.

Interesting. Jacque has always been a favorite of mine and should do well in Detroit. He is still familiar with AL pitching and should be able to step in and contribute.

I like Jones in MN, not so much anywhere else. Tigers made a great deal.

Seems like a useful patch until Maybin is locked in. It's not like Infante is very important.

Is this the beginning of a string of deals by the Cubs? Infante really doesn't do much to fill a need in Chicago. I could see him being dealt rather quickly.
