You barely beat me to the thread, and with a link.
1090 in San Diego is reporting the Orioles hired Joe Girardi to replace him.

Yeah, I posted your news over at OH.com just to see if the news sharks over there could come up with something. Hopefully, Roy Firestone or someone will check into where 1090 is hearing this from... I just hope the O's can turn things around, but I still think it won't happen under Angelos.
Just wait a 4 days or so before you start turning it around.

Sweet Lord, finally. I called for this before the season even began. Now to get rid of the front office too.

if the O's got Joe Girardi, I'll be impressed.

It's always surprising to hear about the first firing of the season, most teams don't seem to like to get that title so I wonder if the floodgates will start to open up a bit. Of course being a fan of those miserable Reds, I have no expectations that Jerry Narron will be fired (there is a huge love affair between him and the GM Wayne Krivsky), but still, can you guys take Girardi and leave Davey for us? Again, the Reds would never talk about hiring a real coach as bringing up internal or dirt cheap options, but a delusional guy like myself can dream.
The moral of my ramblings? Realize it could be worse Orioles fans? I think Girardi would be a good fit and being in a division with the Yankees will bring out his competitive spirit (more so) and it could be the start of the turnaround.

Did I just read correctly that you would rather have Davey Johnson as your manager than Joe Girardi?
Girardi wants too much control in the front office, like near GM authority, the Reds front office is too messed up as it is and there would be too many clashes between the two levels. Of course Johnson is no front office sweetheart, but you have to keep in mind that in my life of 21 years, Johnson is the one who came in to get this team a division winner and in '94, the year of the strike, we looked REAL good. I wouldn't mind Girardi, and I know people in Cincy would probably love his style, but I don't think him and Krivsky would get along at all (and we're stuck with him no matter what.)

Bullpen coach comin in as interim The Official Site of Major League Baseball: News: Major League Baseball News
Girardi will have to be blown away by a deal in order for him to take over tis pathetic team. He didn't take the Nats job because of that reason. He would have to know that the O's intend on making it a competitor. The O's did get some bullpen but it hasn't panned out so well thus far.
^I agree. Possibly especially considering if Torre's out after this year (which I personally doubt), Girardi makes the most sense for the Yanks. And who would go to the O's instead of the Yanks lol

I can't believe nobody else finds it hysterical...that the BULLPEN coach is the interim manager.
I did a lot of good things as a sim league GM.
Ah, give me something clever to say here.
