Randy Johnson back to the NL west?

I heard it on ESPN radio that the Yankees want to trade RJ, teams that are interested are the D-backs, Padres and Giants.

Why are the Padres offering Scott Linebrink? Worse yet, why are the Diamondbacks offering Chad Tracy? Have they not seen Randy pitch in New York?

Yeah I'm surprised there offering all that talent for someone who is inconsistant in his early to mid 40s.

At first I figured Yankees would be glad that someone picks up RJ's salary for a bag of balls. But it looks like Yankees might get WAY more than they expected!

I've seen Linebrink's name mentioned, haven't heard that Chad Tracy was being offered by the Diamondbacks.

They could be better than RJ next year. I really think it's over for him. He hasn't got his slider anymore. He had a great run, but it's time for him to say goodbye.

For some professional players, they just have a difficult time leaving. COuld be the $$$, ego, or love of the game. I think these players hang on as long as they can and if a team is willing to fork up the $$$$, then why NOT? I would do the same myself. Play a game for $$$ or work in the real world... hhmmm........... not a tough choice by any strecth of the imagination.

Somehow I doubt Randy Johnson would have to work for one minute in the "real world" should he deside to hang up the spikes.

There is your editoral proof. Who would want a overpriced 43 year old starting pitcher that is no where near his prime and more like his Expo days.

Not me, Porter. The Yankees are trying to dump salary here so they can take a real run at Zito (IMO).

It would be good for the Dbacks to get Johnson as he wouldn't be relied on to be the ace or even a #2 guy. Johnson would do a lot better in the NL West than the AL East. Webb, Hernandez, Johnson and then Davis is pretty sick. But the Dbacks shouldn't have to offer top prospects for a 43 year old who had an ERA over 5 last season.

Johnson wouldn't have to be an ace in San Diego either.

That said, I wouldn't want him unless New York picked up some of his salary (which is looking like they don't want to) and if we don't have to give up top prospects.
