The Simpson family gathers around, as Homer places Bart's passed test on the fridge.)
Homer: We're proud of you, boy.
Bart: Thanks, Dad. But part of this D-minus belongs to God.
Good for roid boy.
Fair deal for the market. Here's to hoping for an 85 homer season.
Bonds better break that record plus 15 homers for that money. At least its only one years as he was looking for two. Lots of OF talent in next year's market. Giants still need to make a big move like a trade for Sexson or sign Zito to whatever the **** he wants because the Giants have ****ed up this offseason.
Hey great. Good for him. Here's to hoping he breaks something chasing down a fly ball and finishes with 20 homers (754 career).
Ok, maybe not breaking anything, but as long as he doesn't hit more than 20 homers I'll be happy (assuming he retires after this year). Both are probably pretty big if's though.

Well, glad he still is not a Brewer. Molina, you might as well accept the fact that the record is going down this year. Unless he gets injuried. Even though I am not a Bonds fan, I never wish injury upon anyone. I honestly don't pay attention to records like I once did for anything. Records are meant to be broken. I know this is a HUGE record. I still don't think about them much. I care about WINS, that is my attitude. But, I want my teams and players to do things without cheating. No matter what the cheat may be, drugs, gambling, dirty play, tampering with the equipment, "dirt" on the hand (Rogers-like, if you catch my drift),etc.
Good, even though we overpaid him by 4-6M IMO, but I'm glad the greatest player of our era is going to break the record in a Giants uniform and where he will be embraced, unlike other ****ing ignorant fans who would have booed, and thrown shit at him.
It sure would have been nice to have seen Griffey Jr. remain healthy through his career because we wouldn't even be talking about Bonds and the HR record in the same sentence. Bonds would be chasing him.
But, as was said by brewersfan, Bonds will most likely be in better shape than he was last season and should break Hank Aaron's all time HR record.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett
I've said it before and I'll say it again, all he wants is to break the record. That might be why it's just for one year because he believes he can do it in '07 and than retire after the season. He should of retired after '06. I hope he his body falls apart in his first game.
"For someone who was never meant for this world, I must confess I'm suddenly having a hard time leaving it. Of course, they say every atom in our bodies was once part of a star. Maybe I'm not leaving... maybe I'm going home."
I agree with GiantsFan's take here. Barry is being overpaid by at least $4M and is only staying in the game to break the record. The only club he'd have considered playing for, for this little money, is the Giants.
He's happy, or as happy as possible, the Giants have someone that can play LF 100 games this season, and they haven't hurt their future planning too much.

Guess Bonds going to the winter meetings did pretty much nothing for him.

I think it helped. I heard a few rumors that the Giants were offering like only 10 million, and I sincerely doubted he wanted to go anywhere but San Fran, but it could of netted him an additional six million.

Man the Giants are going to try and milk that cash cow down to the last drop. Dude sells tickets and the fans in SF love the guy.
I don't even care anymore and I too hope he hits 85 HR's next year.
