The Phillies acquired first baseman Randall Simon from the Rangers Friday for an undisclosed amount of cash. Simon hasn't played in the major leagues since September 2004, and is best known for clubbing one of the Brewers' sausage mascots with a mighty swing of his bat in 2003.

Simon wouldn't be heading to Philly if they didn't think they could use him, but we're a little puzzled about this move. He might see major league action as a pinch-hitter in September, but shouldn't see any action on a fantasy squad, one that involves hitting baseballs at least.
