The Red Sox have reportedly acquired Eric Hinske from the Blue Jays in exchange for a prospect.
The Blue Jays agreed to pay $2.8125 million, which is half of the $5.6 million due him next year. The Red Sox will take on the $1.4 million still owed Hinske for this season. According to the report, the Red Sox will play Hinske a couple of times per week in place of Kevin Youkilis and Mike Lowell. Some time in right field is also a possibility, but since he's not a very good defender, he shouldn't see much time there while Wily Mo Pena is hot. It's doubtful that the Red Sox will ever want to put Pena in center and Hinske in right. Aug. 16 - 11:45 pm et
