Red Sox Boston Interested In Andruw Jones?

"The Braves were offering Andruw Jones to the Red Sox for Coco Crisp, Jon Lester and Craig Hansen, the Lawrence Eagle Tribune's Rob Bradford told WEEI radio.
That's far too much for a year and a third of Jones. The Red Sox would likely be willing to move Crisp for that kind of upgrade, but they can't include two of their three outstanding young pitchers."

    Link, ROTOWORLD... happy?

Boston first offered Hansen and Crisp for Jones but then the Braves counter offered with that.

dude, it's nothing personal when I asked for a link. One, I wanted to see it and two, it's in the rules about posting rumors stickied at the top of this forum:

You can't just post shit without a source. that's all I was getting at.

Sounds like another "real franchise" deal.

Don't be surprised if this deal still has legs. I have a strong feeling that Jones would pass through waivers due to his contract.

meh, the yankees may make a claim just to block a trade. personally though, that deal weakens the red sox... they have no pitching as it is, and theyre gonna get rid of lester? granted... ortiz-ramirez-jones is the best 3-4-5 in baseball easily... but pitching wins championships.

I agree its dumb, but I still see a possibility of it, especially if the Braves back off of Lester.

And New York doesn't have the pitching to stop that trio.
    Anaheim or Detroit, possibly.

Well, I could definitely see a team or multiple teams claiming Lester (if he was still a part of the deal at the time). You'd be stupid not to.

we'll score just as many runs off their shamble of a staff, as they will off ours. at least we have 2 capable starters, where if they deal lester, they only got 1.

    They'd have two.

And this deal, won't happen. It won't. Ludicrious to think it might even.

I believe the Red Sox would have done the deal had it just included them sending Crisp and Hansen, but I don't think Theo even remotely considered dealing Lester. I believe once the Braves demanded Lester come over as a part of the deal, Theo hung up the phone.

Although I agree with Redsfan that this deal could easily be brought back to life if the Braves back off of demanding Lester.
"They asked me if I wanted the ball in Game 6, and I said yes. I'll always say yes. That's what I did with Jack McKeon. I told him, 'Let me see how I feel tomorrow.' I went out, did a long toss, came in and said, 'I'll pitch, I want it, I want to do it.' And it ended up working out." -Josh Beckett

I think it's pretty much what BoSox said. Lester turned that deal 180 degrees, don't blame either side for their offers

Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.

Yankees actually would have 3. Both teams have something to lock the other down in the 9th. Past that, it's iffy all-around. Clement/Wells/Lester v.s. Lidle/Wright ...gurgle.
