Twins dont really have any outstanding top pitching prospects so it would probably take a couple of them. I personally like the Marlins pitching prospects more.

Im not the Genius that traded for Brandon McCarthy. And my name is certainly not John Gibbons...
The Marlins? You're kidding right? The team with the owner(s) that ran Montreal into the ground and baseball oblivion? The team that just traded off the ENTIRE cept for Dontrelle and Cabrera? The team who is crying about no money? If I were a bookie this would be about as big of a long shot as a Sun Belt conference team winning Division Ia's national championship this year and thats probably not setting them FAR enough as an underdog.
Theres no way the Marlins take Soriano, he's already said he plans on testing the market.

The L.A. Times is reporting that "baseball sources" are saying that the Nationals have lowered their asking price for Alfonso Soriano and that the Dodgers have come the closest to getting him.
The Dodgers have a very deep minor league talent pool so it wouldn't surprise us if they do wind up making a strong bid for Soriano. Any deal the Dodgers make would likely involve Ceasar Izturis who has warn out his welcome in L.A.
The lastest, from Rotoworld...This will likely change at least 5-10 times in the next 6 hours.
Also, to comment on the Marlins offer, if it was, as reported Petit, Vargas and Pinto, from Florida's standpoint, I'd do it in a second, as none of them look to be top flight pitchers of the future.
Matt Garza has been getting alot of press as the next top pitching spect in Minnesota, and his arm has never been doubted. Anthony Swarzak is also a very good spect, with ace-quality potential.Originally Posted by Roy31

Then out of fairness to the others you will be Slagathor.
Narrowed down to the Angels, Twins.... and Oakland.

"The A's have been told they don't have the bullets to land Soriano. Marlins-Tigers-Washington 3-way looks like it's on life support. Another team was told by Bowden he has two deals he can do right now on Soriano _ one with an NL team (Astros?), one with an AL team (Twins?). And on Tejada, I was told there's only a 5 percent chance of that deal going down now." - Jayson Stark

So far nothing. Great news for Nats fans IMO. Next year you will have some money off the books and can build around Soriano. You already have some key pieces in place such as Johnson, Zimmerman and Cordero. Sign him to a 4 yr deal worth $50 mil!
There's no way in hell Soriano would sign for 50/4 when he can get more years than that and probably more money on the FA market.
He is making 10 mil this year. He would be making $12.5/yr so yeah maybe some more moeny but not that much more. Throw in one hell of an option for a 5th year. Point is they need to keep this guy!!!
So it looks like he'll be staying put.
Nationals apparently confirm they did not deal him and will try to extend him.
