Yanks get Abreu from Phillies

Lidle isn't all that good, but he's a useful patch instead of Chacon or Small. Abreu guarantees that Sheffield won't be back, and adds a bat that the Yankees really needed. That New York traded NOTHING of value besides money makes this a rip-off.

I don't think Abreu is really going to help this team all that much but he will help. I don't think they are WS contenders after this deal at all. Even if they did get Craig Wilson to go along with Abreu and Lidle.

2005 first-round pick C.J. Henry has enrolled at Memphis to play basketball.
A year after the Yankees traded him in the Bobby Abreu deal, Henry asked the Phillies for his release, telling them he wanted to go play basketball. However, what he really wanted to do was play for the Yankees. Of course, that was never going to happen. Henry hit .222/.296/.353 in 953 minor league at-bats over four pro seasons. The Yankees missed wildly when they made him the 18th pick in the draft.
