Well, then that was a dumb move by the league to dump the contracted teams' players into free agency. Sure, we didn't want to reward the tanking teams with a free superstar, but the opposite extreme happened where the Golden States and Houstons got richer and didn't have to sacrifice significant players. I should feel bad for taking on Houston's dump Laphonso Ellis that allowed him to sign Sheed, but nah, the league brought this on themselves. I'm not going to be made to feel bad for trying to improve my squad, if only marginally.
how does any league not do a dispersal draft when contracting teams? Dumb.

there wasn't enough talent to warrant even one round, at best, maybe half a round....and we only have 25 teams

Marshall: MILSWANCAs?

mofo also neglects to point out that Houston is essentially maxed out financially and that golden state is older outside of camby and AI. sure, the rich got richer in the immediate future, which is realistic, but there's no way they can further add to the 5 players they have, in fact, they won't be able to extend Thomas
You might be butt hurt but those teams have been good for years, players are naturally going to favor the good teams. I'm sure you'll manage to get past this traumatic point in your life eventually.

A 4.5% escalator and a fifth year guarantees I keep a max player, right? I would be matching everyone else's max offer but offering a 5th year. I didn't know any better when I re-signed Reggie at the time to the default 7.5% max deal (in hindsight, it was best to let him walk).

So, I've received offers from Seattle and Toronto for MJ. Seattle is offering JYD and a 2002 1st while Toronto is offering Spre and a 2004 1st. I prefer the 2004 1st just because it gives me time to repackage the pick and nobody else wants a 2002 non-lottery pick, but either option isn't great: a shit pick now or a shit pick later. It'll be easier to resell JYD than Spre, but I guess what it comes down to is can I get a better pick for JYD than Toronto's 2004 1st?

If you're more proactive maybe but just sitting on a thread hoping people make offers, prolly not. That's what several people get wrong. Use that site and make offers like there's no tomorrow, don't wait for people to maybe send you something based on a trade block. There is no downside to making an offer and it's rejected but many times you will find that you never know what people will accept sometimes and it might surprise you.
Also if you want more or to try to try to get more in those MJ offers, just send them some and keep their original ones aside if all else fails. Seattle is a bit desperate since they have shit at the wings. Get more picks or get Nocioni, or both.

I like that you got more for a 38 year old than a 22 year old got. Crikey

I didn't get as much as I hoped for. He didn't want to part with both JYD and Nocioni, and the 2002 pick will probably net another Carlos Arroyo. But after Toronto moved forward with Finley, I figured Nocioni and a pick was as good as it gets from here.
The draft class is up, which you can see you'll clearly get someone better than Arroyo.
At least until training camp happens

I still wished I had given no fucks and just taken Toronto's 2004 pick before he moved on to Finley, seeing how Toronto is still underachieving. But I wanted to give Seattle a last look since he was most aggressive from the start, and instead I'll net 2 non-lottery prospects.
